2026-2027 YWLAP PTO Board Position Descriptions




President - The president shall preside over meetings of the organization and executive board, represent the organization at meetings outside the organization, serve as an ex officio member of all committees except the nomination committee, and coordinate the work of all the officers and committees so that the purpose of the organization is served. The president also may vote in the event of a tie or an impeachment, and has the power to appoint positions to join an Executive Committee.


Vice President - The vice president shall assist the president and carry out the president’s duties in his or her absence or inability to serve. The vice president shall also oversee the committees of this organization. This position takes the lead in coordinating committee-led initiatives such as the annual carnival, teacher appreciation efforts, etc. 


Secretary - The secretary shall keep all records of the organization, attend all meetings,  prepare the agenda, take and record minutes, record attendance, handle correspondence, and send notices of meetings to the membership. The secretary also keeps a copy of the dates, times and places of all meetings, minutes book, bylaws, rules, membership list, and any other necessary data, and brings them to meetings to report on as needed.


Treasurer - The treasurer shall receive all funds of the organization, keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures, and pay out funds in accordance with the approval of the executive board. He or she will present a financial statement at every meeting and at other times of the year when requested by the executive board, and make a full report at the end of the year.


NEW POSITIONS

The following new board positions were approved during the April 2026 general membership meeting:  


Social Media Coordinator - The social media coordinator shall develop and execute a digital communication plan to enhance the school's online presence. This officer manages the PTO's official social media accounts, ensuring content is professional, timely, and aligned with district policies. Duties include drafting informative posts, documenting campus events, and maintaining a consistent brand voice to foster a connected parent-teacher community.


Grade Level Liaisons - Grade level liaisons shall serve as the primary communication bridge between the PTO and parents of a specific grade level. This role ensures classroom-specific updates, volunteer needs, and school-wide initiatives are consistently communicated. Liaisons work with teachers and PTO leadership to disseminate information, solicit parent feedback, and coordinate activities to foster an inclusive environment.
